The 2007 Honda CR-V launched the model's 3rd generation (RE1–RE7 platform), bringing a complete design redesign that shifted the CR-V from a boxy utility vehicle toward a sleeker, passenger-car-like crossover. Key design changes included moving the spare tire from the tailgate to an under-floor tub, replacing the side-hinged rear door with a top-hinged liftgate, lowering the center of gravity, and increasing body width for better stability and cabin ergonomics.Power comes primarily from a 2.4-liter K24Z1/K24Z4 inline-4 i-VTEC petrol engine producing 166 hp and 218 Nm of torque (or a 2.0-liter R20A petrol / 2.2-liter i-CTDi diesel engine in Japanese domestic, European, and Asian markets). Power is managed by a 5-speed automatic transmission (or 6-speed manual in select overseas markets) flowing to either Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) or Honda’s Real Time AWD system with a dual-pump hydraulic clutch that automatically engages rear wheel torque upon front wheel slip.The cabin features a dash-mounted gear selector, flat-floor pass-through, sliding/reclining 60/40 split-folding rear seats, and an available double-deck cargo shelf. Trims range from the base LX, mid-tier EX, to the top-grade EX-L which introduced leather seating, heated front seats, and an optional DVD navigation system.
