The 2019 CX-5 Diesel stands out with its wide mesh front grille, sleek LED headlights, long bonnet profile, and 17-inch to 19-inch dark-finish alloy wheels. Powering the vehicle is Mazda's 2.2-liter (2,191cc) Skyactiv-D Twin-Turbo 4-cylinder diesel engine. Depending on the market and trim level (such as XD, XD L Package, GT, or Sport Nav), output ranges from 150 hp (110 kW) and 380 Nm in lower specs up to 184–190 hp (135–140 kW) and 450 Nm of torque. This low-compression diesel engine uses twin sequential turbochargers to deliver massive low-end torque. Paired with a smooth 6-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic transmission, power goes to either Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) or Mazda's i-Activ All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system. Inside, the cabin features soft-touch materials, real stitching, an ergonomic center console, and an 7-inch or 8-inch Mazda Connect infotainment display controlled via a rotary Commander dial. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were made standard on 2019 models. The 506-liter boot expands to 1,620 liters with the 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats folded flat.
