The 2017 Isuzu FVR fitted with the 6SD1-TC engine is a heavy-duty variant within Isuzu’s F-Series (Forward) commercial truck range. Engineered for heavy payload transport, long-distance haulage, and high-stress commercial applications, this high-displacement powertrain emphasizes durable low-end torque, chassis stability, and low maintenance overhead over passenger-car comforts.Built on a high-tensile steel ladder-frame chassis with a cab-over-engine design, the 2017 FVR 9.8L is configured primarily as a 4×2 rigid truck (single steer axle, single drive axle with dual rear wheels). It is paired with either a 6-speed heavy-duty manual or a 9-speed Eaton Fuller / ZF synchronized manual transmission. The cab features an ergonomic driver-focused layout equipped with an ISRI air-suspended driver seat, power steering, a 24-volt electrical system, and full-air dual-circuit braking for commercial safety. The chassis accommodates a wide variety of custom rear bodies, including flatbeds, tipper/dump beds, box cargo containers, fuel/water tankers, and refuse compactors.
