The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 4MATIC (V167 Generation) is the petrol-powered, mid-range luxury flagship SUV of Mercedes's fourth-generation GLE line. Designed with an extended 2,995 mm wheelbase, smooth aerodynamic contours (Cd 0.29), and a dominant stance, the GLE 450 is visually distinguished by an imposing chrome-studded octagonal grille, dual-L-shaped MULTIBEAM LED lighting signatures, broad rear haunches, chrome roof rails, and 19-inch to 22-inch light-alloy wheels. Trim grades range from the standard Exclusive / Premium packages to the aggressive wide-body AMG Line. Under the bonnet, the GLE 450 is powered by Mercedes's smooth 3.0-liter (2,999cc) M256 turbocharged inline 6-cylinder petrol engine combined with an EQ Boost 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The combustion engine outputs 367 PS (362 hp / 270 kW) and 500 Nm of torque, while the integrated starter-generator (ISG) supplies an additional instantaneous boost of 22 PS (21 hp / 16 kW) and 250 Nm of torque under heavy acceleration. Power is transferred through a 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission to Mercedes’s 4MATIC fully variable permanent all-wheel drive system. Suspension options range from standard steel springs to AIRMATIC air suspension with adaptive damping or the hydro-pneumatic E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL system capable of scanning road surfaces and individual wheel control. Inside, the cabin features dual 12.3-inch widescreen displays running the MBUX infotainment system with voice control ("Hey Mercedes") and optional augmented reality navigation. Amenities include ARTICO synthetic or Nappa leather upholstery, dual center-console grab handles, 64-color ambient lighting, 4-zone THERMOTRONIC climate control, open-pore wood trim, optional 3rd-row seating (7-seat capability), and an optional 13-speaker Burmester surround sound system.
