The 2017 Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 4MATIC (W166 / C292 Series) is a mid-size luxury performance SUV designed to bridge the gap between standard GLE models and the track-focused V8 GLE 63 AMG. Replacing the previous GLE 450 AMG Sport trim for the 2017 model year, the GLE 43 earned full official AMG branding along with AMG-tuned suspension, steering, exhaust, and all-wheel-drive dynamics. Available in both a traditional SUV body style and a sleek Coupe silhouette, the GLE 43 features aggressive styling cues including large front air intakes, a single-louver chrome grille with AMG badging, flared wheel arches, quad exhaust tailpipes, and 20-inch or 21-inch AMG light-alloy wheels. Under the bonnet, the 2017 GLE 43 is powered by an AMG-enhanced 3.0-liter (2,996cc) M276 Biturbo V6 engine generating 362 hp (367 PS) and 520 Nm of torque. Power is routed through an AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic transmission featuring paddle shifters and rev-matching capability. It utilizes an AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system with a permanent rear-biased 40:60 torque split for sportier handling and sharper turn-in. Equipped standard with AIRMATIC air suspension featuring ADS Plus (Adaptive Damping System), drivers can toggle between Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Slippery, and Individual driving modes via DYNAMIC SELECT to alter damper firmness, throttle response, steering weight, and exhaust valves.
