2020 Toyota Hilux TRD

The 2019 Toyota Hilux TRD 4WD (Toyota Racing Development) is a factory-enhanced double-cab pickup truck designed to combine the indestructible reliability of the Hilux chassis with aggressive, motorsport-inspired off-road aesthetics and performance tuning. Positioned above the standard SR5 and Legend trims, the TRD edition is visually distinguished by its gloss-black TRD honeycomb front grille, heavy-duty red TRD aluminum front skid plate, extended matte-black wheel-arch flares, tubular side steps, black rear sports bar, and 18-inch TRD alloy wheels fitted with all-terrain tyres. Depending on the destination market, power comes from either a 2.8-liter (2,755cc) 1GD-FTV turbo-diesel engine generating 177 hp and 450 Nm of low-end torque (or a 2.4-liter 2GD-FTV turbo-diesel making 150 hp / 400 Nm in select regional import specifications), or a high-output 4.0-liter 1GR-FE V6 petrol engine delivering 235 hp and 376 Nm. Power is sent through a 6-speed automatic transmission to a part-time 4WD system equipped with high/low range transfer modes, an electronic locking rear differential, and Active Traction Control (A-TRC). Selected TRD variants feature upgraded TRD-tuned performance shock absorbers, delivering superior heat dissipation, reduced body pitch and bounce, and enhanced high-speed handling over corrugated gravel tracks.
