The 2020 Prado Kakadu is powered by a 2.8-liter (2,755cc) 1GD-FTV turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine mated to a 6-speed sequential automatic transmission. Models produced prior to August 2020 deliver 130 kW (177 PS) and 450 Nm of torque, while post-August 2020 updated models feature an upgraded turbocharger boosting output to 150 kW (204 PS) and 500 Nm of torque. The full-time 4WD system incorporates a two-speed dual-range transfer case, a Torsen limited-slip center differential, a lockable rear differential, Multi-Terrain Select (MTS), Crawl Control, and a Multi-Terrain Monitor with underfloor terrain views.
